Summoning is trained by making summoning pouches. Pouches can be made to invoke familiars. You can also convert pouches into scrolls (for the attack that is special) to earn extra xp, however this isn't always a good idea. For a pouch to be made, you'll need to be near one of the four main the obelisks. In reality, there are two mega-obelisks to use such as the one in Taverly at the home of Pikkupstix and the other in Piscatoris. Taverly is the one you most frequently use in the beginning. Once you're there, you need 4 things:
A pouch that is empty. Purchase it at Pikkupstix upstairs. Spirit shreds: the number that chnages for each one of your favorite characters. Purchase them again from pikkupstix. A charm: there are four types. Different pouches need different types. A tertiary: this is an undetermined item added to each pouch. For instance, a spirit tigerbird requires raw bird flesh. Gather all of the ingredients then click the an obelisk. There are pouches you can make. That's how you earn xp and that's how you get fit, going back and forth between banks to make pouches.
It's helpful in situations where you'll need a lot of tools, and the need to have space for inventory outweighs the need for "high levels" specific tools. Two examples that come immediately to mind are Hunting and
